On our way to see the dolphins at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret garden, we stopped for lunch at BLT Burger in the Mirage. We had decided we’d just see what was inside the casino and stop at whatever looked good. While the decor of the restaurant is cool (open kitchen, cool wood ceiling, etc), it was the SMELL that drew us in. Whoa!
The menu says that their “100% Certified Black Angus beef burgers are a combination of sirloin, short rib, chuck and brisket…”. It sounds great, and tastes even better. They serve their burgers cooked “medium” unless you instruct them otherwise. The FDA recommends that ground beef bee cooked fully, and if I went to a fast food place I’d insist on that. But when you start from good cuts of beef and grind your own, this can be done safely. Mine was cooked perfectly, and was so much more tender and delicious than if it had been cooked fully. I tried the Vidalia onion rings and the sweet potato fries; both were outstanding!
I’m a bit of a penny pincher, so $17 for a burger at lunch seemed pretty steep, but I have to admit that the food and service were just great. If you’re looking for a treat sometime, check ‘em out at BLT Burger.
In the interest of full disclosure, this is the only burger I had in Vegas, but I find it hard to believe there’s one better…so from my sample size of one, I’m declaring this the best. :)
