Service Makes The Difference

The flight this morning was great, and it was the cabin service that made it so.

The head flight attendant was outstanding! Despite the early time (boarding at 07:00), she was chipper and eager to make the flight safe and comfortable. When she asked if you needed anything, you could tell that she was glad you needed something so that she had the opportunity to make your flight more enjoyable.

There’s a huge difference between “Do you need any help?” and “Can I help you with that?”.  Huge.  Many folks in customer service jobs just don’t get that, but she clearly did.

Delta started a cool program last year where Medallion members are given certificates they can give to employees in recognition of outstanding service.  They turn-in the the certificates for “points”.  I’m really not sure what they can get with the points, but I do know that each time I’ve given one of these out the person has been genuinely appreciative.  I hope she gets something more exciting than Delta company merchandise.  :)

How do you get these certificates? I have flights to Bombay and back coming up.

I was given the certificates with my Platinum Medallion credentials, and I’m not sure how you’d get them if they weren’t mailed to you already. Try calling Delta and asking for some. Let me know what you hear.

That’s a long trip to BOM! What routing will you take? You are a member of SkyMiles, aren’t you? You’ll be racking up quite a lot of miles.

Going via St. Paul to AMS then BOM and back same route except via Detroit. After going through CDG, I’m avoiding it like the plague. I liked the ATL-BOM nonstop Delta had, even though it was 16 and 18 hours.

I have about 72k now, but only get 2 flights/yr, so I’m stuck at Silver. The only benefit I really have it boarding early, so I can grab some overhead bin space. I’m hoping I’ll have the miles to get my wife’s flight home on miles.
